It Is Still Him

But Jesus immediately said to them, ‘Take courage!  It is I.  Don’t be afraid.'” As the disciples were being buffeted by the wind and waves during a storm in the hours of darkness, they saw what they first thought was a ghost walking toward them on the water.  It turned out to be Jesus coming to their rescue and the story ends with Him joining them in the boat, after which the winds and the waves die down and calm settles in.  The story makes me reflect on the many times in life when the winds and waves of our circumstances buffet us about and the darkness of gloom and despair settles in.  When we realize that Jesus is still calling out to us, coming to us, wanting us to be with Him, we can take courage and not fear what this life brings our way.  Once we recognize our need of Christ and welcome Him into our “ship”, we too can find that there is really no reason to be afraid when He is with us.  Why not let Him calm your storms today?
