Righteous or Rebellious?

It seems that we often complicate life by somehow imagining that we have so many options, so many choices, we have difficulty deciding what direction we should take.  Decisions in life can indeed be so apparently complex that they often lead to stress and anxiety.  It has been my experience, however, that much of the time our choices are much more simple than we might at first imagine.  In most situations that confront us, there are simply two choices:  we can choose to do right; or we can choose to rebel against the right and do wrong.  Consider the recent number of news stories involving extra-marital affairs of prominent public figures as an example.  These men apparently came to a place in life where they were confronted with an opportunity to choose to do right by honoring and remaining faithful to the vows made to their spouse, to choose to rebel against the standard of fidelity in marriage and commit adultery with another woman other than their wife.  To be clear, I do not sit in the seat of judgment where these men or concerned because I only have the information presented in the media to go on.  I think the point is clear though that this is one examlpe of where seemingly complex issues are really just a simple choice between being righteous or being rebellious.  Hosea 14:9 says “let whoever is wise understand these things, and whoever is insightful recognize them.  For the ways of the Lord are right, and the righteous walk in them, but the rebellious stumble in them.”  Have you stumbled lately?  Do you know someone else who may have stumbled?  Why not make a special effort to choose the right thing and pray for God’s grace and forgiveness, and with His help learn to walk again?
