My God

I was reading today in 1 Chronicles 28:20 which says “And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.”  Although I have read the verse a number of times before, those two words set off by hyphens seemed to grab my attention today.  David identified the Lord God as “my God”.  Did you catch that?  In these two simple words David is conveying to his son Solomon that the Lord God of Heaven and Earth is a PERSONAL God and David had a personal relationship with Him.  I wonder what impact it would have on our homes and our families if all of us first had that personal relationship with God and then made sure that our children knew it?  May His grace and mercy be yours.
