Spot On

I heard this expression, “spot on”, some time ago and thought it might fit today’s reflections.  As I invested some time alone with Father this morning, I was reading about the life and reign of Josiah when I noticed these words in 2 Chronicles 34:2b: “…He did not turn aside to the right or the left.”  I thought about that old adage which says the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.  I thought also about how crooked my own journey of faith has been.  I certainly cannot claim to have even approached a straight line between my lostness and the path to the Lord’s Righteousness.  Thankfully, God has been so gracious as to provide a means whereby each one of us can get to Him even though many of us are prone to take detours and roam about aimlessly in life from time to time.  As I read His Word this morning, it seems as if God directed my heart to think about how much easier life might be if I would just fix my eyes “spot on” toward the mark of the prize of the high calling in Christ Jesus and then never again turn aside to right or the left.  Maybe the distance between where I am and where I need to be would prove to be much shorter that way!  What do you think?
