3:12 Instead of B12

I have friend who once ran a large dairy farm.  He is a firm believer in “B12” shots as a kind of cure all for various ailments.  Sometimes when a person is sick with a cold or flu, or just generally feeling ill, Buddy will suggest that he has some “B12” shots in the barn that will “cure what ails you”!  Now, I am not a veterinarian nor a doctor so I really don’t know what benefits there are to “B12” shots.  This morning, though, I was reading in my devotional time and I ran across Colossians 3:12.  The verse says “Therefore, God’s chosen ones, holy and loved, put on heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,” and it occurred to me that when we followers of Christ are having difficulties getting along with others, what we need is a shot of Colossians 3:12.  I can imagine that when the people who believe God has called them to Himself in the grace gift of salvation get a good dose of what is prescribed in this verse, most of our church problems and issues will quickly fade away and God’s family will become a more healthy church.  One paraphrase goes so far as to say that “since we are God’s chosen…then we must put on…”  That makes it pretty clear that Colossians 3:12 is definitely “what the doctor ordered” for those times when we are grumpy and ill!
