Stand Fast In Freedom

The final stanza of our national anthem says “Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved homes and the war’s desolation, Blest with vict’ry and peace, may the Heav’n-rescued land Praise the Pow’r that hath made and preserved us a nation.
Then conquer we must, for our cause is just, And this be our motto–“In God is our trust.” And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O’er the land of the free and the home of the brave.”  As America celebrates Independence Day, my prayer is that we remember those who have given us this precious gift of freedom:  Christ, Our Lord; heroes past; heroes present; and those who continue to choose service above self even in these troubled times.  May God help us never forget that our freedom from sin only comes because Christ stood between us and the desolation sin brings.  May God help us recognize and never forget that the freedom to “…life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” is only ours because brave men and women “stand between their loved homes and the war’s desolation”.  And may we forever stand fast in freedom!  God bless America!

  1. Too often we cherish our rights and shirk our responsibilities. If I ignore my responsibility to protect your rights, I will lose my rights.
