Proverbs Challenge, Day 6

These six things the Lord hates,

Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:

17      A proud look,

      A lying tongue,

      Hands that shed innocent blood,

18      A heart that devises wicked plans,

Feet that are swift in running to evil,

19      A false witness who speaks lies,

And one who sows discord among brethren.”

There is a message I sometimes share from the pulpit entitled “Seven Ways to Alienate God”.  The text is found in Proverbs 6:16-19 and is in the Challenge Chapter of the Day.  Pride, lying, attacking or slaying the innocent, evil plotting, delighting in evil, bearing false witness, and sowing discord among God’s people are seven things that the Lord hates: indeed, they are an abomination to Him.  Notice the text says “six things the Lord hates, yes, seven are an abomination to Him”.  It seems that the seventh item is a capstone like event: the worst of the worst.  That seventh item is “…one who sows discord among the brethren.”  Maybe those who stir up trouble in churches among the body of Christ should remember this passage?  Just a thought.  Grace to you.

  1. I wish we could skip the first one, a proud look.

    • The order is interesting, beginning with the proud look and ending with one who sows discord. Thanks for your comments! Blessings from your BEBC family!
