Proverbs Challenge, Day 9

“The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

Proverbs 9:10 is classic quote heard from many pulpits.  Yet the full meaning and reality of this powerful statement goes unnoticed by far too many.  Humanity, in its lost condition, often believes that we can find wisdom and knowledge through our own ability.  We study, we learn, we advance, and we conclude that our ability to do that is unlimited.  What we miss is that all that we know, all that we learn, all that we acquire by our “knowledge and wisdom” is pointless and vain without first coming to realize our need of God.  When we build upon the foundation of recognizing our need of God and accepting His grace gifts in our life, then our pursuit of wisdom and knowledge becomes truly worthwhile!
