Proverbs Challenge, Day 13

“He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed.”

I smiled as I read the seventh verse of Proverbs 13 this morning.  I have a friend who always “complains” of being poor but I suspect he is actually quite well situated financially.  Of course, the true meaning of that seventh verse is much more serious and spiritually oriented than mere financial well-being.  The verse that really spoke to my heart today is verse 20 (above).  The company we keep says a lot about who we are.  More importantly, the company we keep often influences who we become.  A wise person will seek out and keep company with wise friends.  It is the person who lacks wisdom that will keep company with “friends” who will lead them into trouble.  May God help us all to choose the company we keep carefully.  I am praying especially for another of my friends who has seemingly returned to the company of some who may lead him down the wrong path again.
