Proverbs Challenge, Day 18

“The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”

One of my favorite missionary story tells of a time when a missionary couple had a small child that crawled near a horse and had his foot crushed.  Far from medical help in the days when there were no cell phones and nor ready means to contact help, all the child’s mother and father could do was hold him and cry out “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!”  Years later, the young child had grown up and went to enter the service when the medical exam revealed his foot had been broken and then healed.  An orthopedic surgeon asked the young man who was the physician that had healed the broken foot and the young man said “His Name is Jesus.”  Those missionaries and their child had truly experienced the reality of today’s verse:  “the Name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.”
