Proverbs Challenge, Day 23

“Apply your heart to instruction, and your ears to words of knowledge.”

Wise sayings like this one have largely been responsible through the ages for the link between the Church and Education.  Many of the great colleges and universities in our nation have their roots in religious education.  Those roots at least in some part are tied to the Bible’s teaching about the importance of learning and gaining knowledge.  The Lord gives us wisdom so that we can rightly apply knowledge and learning.  The breakdown between the teaching of the Bible concerning the role of education in our lives and modern-day secularism is our lack of receiving wisdom from the Lord.  May God help us to return to Him that we find wisdom as we continue to chase after knowledge!
