Simplifying Life’s Complexity

Sometimes life can be overwhelming. Circumstances, the holiday rush, and managing busy schedules can be difficult and challenging. In the stress of our complex lives, I have found three things that help me simplify the hectic pace. First, I remember that the Lord is God. He is not a deity created by religion. He is not merely an idea or a concept of man’s imagination. In reality, the Lord is the Sovereign Ruler of all things and nothing is outside the span of His control. I then remember that all things exist for His purpose, for His glory. I remind myself that there is a higher purpose than my comfort and convenience. The purpose of all things is to bring glory to God. He has the ability to turn even the worst of circumstances into something that brings glory to Him. Finally, I acknowledge that He is most glorified when we are like Christ. God’s ultimate purpose for His people is that we should be conformed to the image of His Son. Jesus Christ, the Son of God, humbled Himself (He submitted Himself to God’s will). Jesus became obedient (He fulfilled God’s purpose in His life). God has exalted the name of Jesus above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.

Taking time to think through these simple facts helps me get the complex issues of life back in perspective. I pray that you can find help and peace in Christ as well.
