In the Gap

Numbers 16:48 says “He stood between the dead and the living, and the plague was halted.”  The verse is in the context of Aaron standing in the gap for the Israelites when God sent a plague to destroy the rebels who had raised up against Moses.  Some 14,700 people died from the plague before Aaron could take his place in the gap between the dead and the living and the plague was stopped.  As I read the passage, I was reminded of the way sin rapidly destroys lives, countless numbers of lives, and only the Lord Jesus Christ stepping in between death (the wages of sin) and the living is able to stop the plague!  I am thankful today and every day that Christ stands in the gap for me.  Are you?

  1. I to have been lead to meditate on this scripture. Do you think that sometimes we to are lead to stand between the living and the dead? We should be the censer that Jesus carries in His hands filled with fire from the alter with helps to spread the love (incense) of Christ.

    • Good observations. I believe that we are indeed called to be His witnesses, and that often includes being the “censer” in His hands. I pray daily that God will help me grow in intercession. Blessings of Grace and Peace from the Father!
